MP3s for your delectation

Have a listen to a track by each of the two headline bands playing at our forthcoming night on September 13th at the Flapper in Birmingham:

Beats Capri
Stylish male/female Derby four piece with a nice line in spiky pop tunes and formal evening attire. They line up; Joanne O'Neill - Vocals, Robert Allen - Guitar/Vocals, Esther Brown - Bass/Vocals, David Flower - Drums.

Beats Capri - Me Your Girl

Midas
Quartet from the Black Country, following in the fine lineage of bands from Stourbridge like PWEI, the Wonderstuff and Ned's Atomic Dustbins! They've got a bit local fanbase and played to a staggering 10,000 people at the Festival of Water and Light. They've been compared to Muse but do have their own distinctive sound and some fantastic tracks with soaring epic choruses.

Midas - Not All Over

Here's an interview with Midas on the BBC Black Country website

If you like what you hear then come along to the Flapper and Firkin on September 13th and see these two bands plus StrangeTime and Sinistra - all for just £3!

People we didn't book #1 - Karl Kennedy

We tried to book Karl Kennedy aka Alan Fletcher and his band The Waiting Room to play at ADKoF.

We used such flattery as:

"I'd just like to say I'm a big fan of your work, both on
Neighbours and in Waiting Room. I love the new album, my favourite
track is Mattress On The Floor - being a student myself, it really
struck a chord, however we don't get the cockroaches over here!"

His reply:

"Thanks for kind words on the album!

We are going to be in Birmingham in November but I believe it will be
at the Walkabout. The tour is almost completely finalised and I will
send detalils when it is.

Thanks for the offer but don't think it can work.

Cheers
Fletch"

So near and yet so far. Karl Kennedy chooses to play for an evil corporate theme bar chain rather than a small upcoming indie night. So much for his indie credibility!
